How to Close Your Account

To request that your Bucked Up account be closed, email [email protected] from the email address associated with your account and include:

  1. Subject line: "Account Closure Request"
  2. Your full name
  3. The email address on your account
  4. A brief confirmation that you'd like your account permanently closed

Our Customer Service team will confirm your identity and process the closure. We will respond to your request within 45 days of receipt, and in some cases may take up to 90 days total if additional time is reasonably necessary — we'll notify you if an extension applies. Most requests are completed well before that.

Note: Closing your account is different from unsubscribing from marketing emails. If you only want to stop receiving promotional emails, use the "unsubscribe" link at the bottom of any email instead — no account closure needed.

What Happens to Your Information

Bucked Up does not sell your personal information for money. We do share limited, hashed customer information with advertising platforms (e.g., Meta, Google, TikTok) to deliver and measure ads — this qualifies as "sharing" under California law even though the data is hashed, and you can opt out of it below.

Deleted or de-identified:

  • Login credentials and account access
  • Saved payment methods on file (Bucked Up does not store your full card details directly — these are held by our payment processor, Braintree, and are removed from our systems upon account closure)
  • Saved shipping/billing addresses tied to your profile
  • Marketing preferences and email subscription status (email and SMS marketing communications are managed through our marketing platform, Klaviyo, and your contact data there is deleted or suppressed upon account closure)

Retained for a limited time, then deleted:

  • Customer service correspondence (including this closure request) — retained for up to 7 years, consistent with the applicable state statute of limitations for consumer and contract-related claims, then deleted

Retained longer, as required by law or for legitimate business purposes:

  • Order and transaction history (purchases, invoices, refunds) — retained for 7 years to comply with tax, accounting, and financial recordkeeping requirements
  • Records needed for fraud prevention or chargebacks — retained per Braintree's and our issuing banks' requirements
  • Information already shared with shipping carriers, or records required for product recalls or safety notices — retained as required by FDA and consumer product safety regulations

Once your account is closed, this data is used only for the purposes above and is not used for marketing or accessible through your (now-closed) account.

Your Rights Under GDPR, UK GDPR, and CCPA/CPRA

If you are a resident of the European Union, United Kingdom, or California, you have additional rights over your personal data:

  • EU/UK residents (GDPR): You have the right to request erasure ("right to be forgotten"), access, correction, or portability of your data. We will respond to erasure requests within one month of receipt, extendable by a further two months (three months total) for complex requests — we'll notify you if this applies.
  • California residents (CCPA/CPRA): You have the right to request deletion, access, or correction of your personal information, and to opt out of the sharing of your data for cross-context behavioral advertising (we do not sell data for money, but we do share hashed identifiers with ad platforms as described above, which California law treats as "sharing"). We will respond within 45 days, extendable by another 45 days (90 days total) if reasonably necessary, with notice to you.
  • In all cases, certain information may be retained where an exception applies (e.g., completing a transaction, legal compliance, fraud prevention, or exercising free speech/legal claims), as described above.

To exercise any of these rights, email [email protected] with your request and the applicable jurisdiction.
